For example, in the early days of Milligan College, the business institute at the College offered a special women’s business course, as opposed to the regular business course offerings. The two photos Aunt Betty Cox’s Class (1891-1894) and William Johnson Matthews’ Class (1894) show groups strictly segregated by gender.
