Biographical Note:

Betty Willis King and Lewis King met while students at Milligan College (now Milligan University) and were married in 1951. Betty Willis King graduated in 1952 with an A.B. in Elementary Education and Lewis King graduated in 1953 with an A.B. in Religion.

Arrangement:

The collection contains two items in one series.

Scope and Content Note:

This collection contains two artifacts from Milligan College between 1949 and 1951. The first artifact is a small cheerleader doll wearing a sweater with the Milligan “M.” The second artifact is a letter from the 1949-1950 school year. This collection is in one series.

The Betty W. and Lewis M. King Collection was donated to the Milligan College Archives and Special Collections by Betty and Lewis King during Lewis’ 50-year college reunion, Homecoming Weekend 2003.

Box 1

Box 1 contains both artifacts in the Betty W. and Lewis M. King Collection. Item 1 is a doll given as a gift to Betty Willis King from Lewis King because of her involvement on the cheerleading squad in the 1950-1951 school year. Item 2 is Lewis King’s letter for participation in the Milligan College Choir during the 1949-1950 school year. The letter has been wrapped in acid-free tissue paper for storage.
