Earl R. Stuckenbruck was born in 1916 in Iowa. He graduated with his bachelor’s degree from University of Kansas and his Master of Divinity degree from Butler University School of Religion (now Christian Theological Seminary) and later received an Doctor of Divinity degree from the same institution. He also studied at Birmingham University (England), Basel University (Switzerland), and Karl Eberhardt University (Germany). Stuckenbruck served in various roles in churches in Indiana (First Christian Church, Columbus and First Christian Church, Montpelier) and Tennessee (Grandview Christian Church and First Christian Church, both in Johnson City). Stuckenbruck and his wife, Ottie Mearl Lawrence, were foundational in the work of the European Evangelistic Society in Tubingen, Germany. He also taught Bible, Greek, and German at Milligan College (now Milligan University) and taught at Emmanuel School of Religion (now Emmanuel Christian Seminary at Milligan University).
